Laser pigmentation removal
Unwanted pigmentation is a common problem that occurs in specific situations. The most common causes include chronic sun exposure, sunbathing in a tanning bed, hormonal changes (pregnancy, childbirth, hormone treatment), as well as the use of certain medications. They occur most often on the face, on the hands, in the décolletage, but can be anywhere on the body. Depending on the cause, the depth of the deposit and the duration of the pigmentation, which is determined by a specialist, we are able to tailor a treatment to remove the pigmentation.
The course of treatment
One of the elegant solutions for pigmentation removal is with IPL. This method is particularly popular for its painlessness and good results. In our clinic, we use the EXILITE III device from BTL, which is one of the most powerful IPL due to its technical parameters. The principle is that the intense energy from the device in the skin converts the light beam into heat, which binds only to melanin (skin pigment). This heat reaction then causes the pigmented spot to break down, which your body is then able to deal with and get rid of. The procedure usually does not require anaesthesia, but if it is necessary, local anaesthesia is used - 30 to 40 minutes before the actual application, the area is numbed with a special cream.

How does the treatment work?
After a thorough consultation, the skin is cleansed and the skin phototype is determined. The device is then set to a specific range and intensity of treatment and then the therapist passes the head over the area. Prior to this, a test treatment is normally done on a small area on the forearm and the intensity is determined accordingly. If the chosen intensity is fine, the treatment continues. The skin is protected at all times with a special gel and the eyes with special goggles to prevent damage. The patient feels a slight pinching sensation which is not painful. As a rule, 2-4 treatments are necessary every 4 weeks.
